AI powered medical imaging demonstration begins in Tunisia
- Contributing to solving doctor shortage in Africa by improving the efficiency and the technological advancement through AI

QUNIE CORPORATION

Tokyo Japan – November 29 2022 – Japanese consultancy firm, QUNIE CORPORATION (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ken Tsuchihashi; company known as QUNIE), together with the American startup DeepTek (hereinafter: DeepTek) (Note 1), have started an AI-based POC (Proof Of Concept) since November 28, 2022.

In this demonstration, the AI powered medical imaging diagnosis solution (Note 2) provided by DeepTek will be used in collaboration with Abderrahmen Mami Hospital (Note 2), a public tertiary hospital and a leader in the field of lung diseases in Tunisia (Note 3), to assist the diagnosis of lung diseases such as tuberculosis and to streamline the radiology departments’ workflow using digital platforms.

If the effectiveness of the solution is demonstrated in this POC, the goal is to expand the solution to all over Tunisia and neighboring countries. QUNIE and DeepTek aim to contribute to solving the doctor shortage in African countries, starting with this trial.

 

(Note 1) DeepTek is a US-based startup that provides AI medical imaging solutions and remote reading services. QUNIE’s parent company, NTT DATA, has invested in the company to strengthen collaborations.
(Note 2) Abderrahmen Mami Hospital is one of Tunisia's leading public tertiary hospitals, located in the province of Ariana, with 517 beds and is a leader in the field of lung diseases in Tunisia.
(Note 3) DeepTek's AI imaging diagnostic support solution is being used to diagnose lung diseases such as coronavirus disease and tuberculosis. (It is at the practical stage in India, Southeast Asia and other countries, and is already providing paid services to 350 medical institutions.)
